If I could erase memories
If I could erase memories
and clear my system of all allergies
I would sit on a folding chair and drink pineapple juice
and never remember how lonely I've been.
Second row from behind,
maroon ugly uniforms that were never my size
lunch bells that informed me less about rice and beans
and more about dragging my whole body into halls where I didn't feel seen.
I wish the world was kind to people who are quiet
many days we have woken up wishing to be totally rewired
But then I look at the stars
and feel something that can only be felt when you're alone, lonely and quiet
something like only Van Gogh could understand.
So if I could erase these memories
I'm not sure if it will feel the same when looking at the stars above me
If I could erase memories
I would just let that ability lay there
long enough for it to be lost and it too become a memory
of how I could erase memories.
My experience with being quite introverted is a story for another day. This is just a little poem I wrote when thinking about how people who feel more introverted sometimes struggle with loneliness, and if they wish to forget those moments. So, on-behalf of my fellow introverts, here are 3 things we want you to know.
“Why are you so quiet?” is the most annoying question you could ever ask us, so don't.
If you think we are slow, then maybe it's because we want different things in life. You want to drink your coffee on the go, we want to sit in the cafe, hear the grinding of the beans and stare at the tattooed barista, hoping it could help us write a fiction film.
We are actually very cool, our inner worlds are like Chronicles of Narnia, so we are careful on who comes in. And the same like Narnia, it all sounds weird if you don't know it, but once you get in, you will never wish to leave (haha, I hope).
Lots of love to you!
I really loved this piece
